At AmeriLife Benefits, we believe in making a positive impact in our community. Recently, our dedicated team members attended the 2nd Annual Pickleball Tournament to support Fore the Kids Foundation. This event not only brought together enthusiastic participants for a fun-filled day but also aimed to raise funds and awareness for the growing mental health crisis among children in our Kansas City area. We are proud to have been a part of this special cause.
Raising Funds for Pediatric Mental Health
Fore the Kids Foundation is on a mission to expand comprehensive pediatric mental and behavioral health care in our community. Their vision is to help every child smile from the enjoyment of life and promote positive mental health through increased community awareness and improved access to high-quality care and research.
Through their generous contribution, AmeriLife Benefits not only made it possible for their employees to have a fun day of playing pickleball, but also contributed to the funds needed to make a difference in the lives of children facing mental health challenges all throughout the Kansas City area.
The Urgency of Pediatric Mental Health
Fore the Kids Foundation highlights some shocking facts that shed light on the urgency of addressing pediatric mental health issues. Did you know that more teenagers die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease combined? Furthermore, approximately one in five children and adolescents in our community will need to be evaluated for conditions like ADHD, depression, anxiety, or other behavioral health diagnoses. Alarming statistics reveal that in 2016, 15.04% of students had actually made a plan on how to take their own lives.
